Two Year Recap

Two years ago Edmonton Go was just an idea. Thanks to Startup Edmonton for generously providing the space, and to Daniel Huckstep for the requisite kick-in-the-pants, January 27, 2014 marked our first meetup. Together we’ve enjoyed talks, discussions, code reading, hack nights, videos, workshops, cake eating, sphero battles, and other activities. Talks Celsius: Types Are Cool @nathany (video, code) We will refactor some procedural code, learning how to use types and methods in Go. This talk is suitable for programmers new to the Go language. Concurrency Is Not Parallelism @rob_pike (video, slides, code) Concurrency is a way of structuring code that can enable parallel execution. After a number of seemingly silly examples, Rob Pike wraps up with a complete load balancer written in Go.
