Welcome to Edmonton Go Tech Meetup

Edmonton Go is becoming Edmonton Go Tech Meetup — a community for developers, sysadmins, homelabbers and tech enthusiasts who build and run software with open technologies.

Go remains our go-to language. We use it for backend services, CLIs, tooling and systems work, and it's the common thread running through what we do. But the problems we face as technologists are more consistent than the languages we use to solve them. So instead of a Go-only meetup, we're organizing around the problems — backend engineering, data, Linux, containers, storage, networking and self-hosting — and the open-source tools that solve them.

What that means in practice:

  • Go Nights with talks and lightning talks
  • Open Source Stack Nights digging into one open technology
  • Build & Hack Nights and hands-on Workshops
  • Show Me Your Homelab show-and-tell

You don't need to know Go to join us. If you're curious about backend, infrastructure or open source, you're welcome. No sales pitches — just people solving problems together.

We meet at Edmonton Unlimited. Come for the Go; stay for the people.

This blog is where we'll post reviews and notes — a new PostgreSQL release, an open application we're testing, or a Go feature and the problem it helps with. If you'd like to write one, get involved.
