The Impact of Community by Cassandra Salisbury (video)

The group discussed the state of the Go community, prompted by Cassandra Salisbury's talk "The Impact of Community." Looking back at Edmonton Go's first four years — running since January 2014, with more than 15 speakers and plenty of pizza — the conversation covered where Go is used locally, including MacEwan University's web application development course, Bellstone Engineering, AGiLE ANiMAL, CenturyLink, Betable, DigitalOcean, Yardly, and A.R. Thomson Group. They reviewed the Go Code of Conduct, brainstormed ways to increase adoption in Edmonton, and highlighted the Community Outreach Working Group and its discussion issues. Ways to get involved included organizing meetups and talks, helping with the website and sponsorships, participating in Startup Week (Oct 15–19), and joining organizations like Canada Learning Code, GoBridge, and Women Who Go. The meetup also hangs out in the #edmontongo channel on Gophers Slack.
